Stairs remodeling

When it comes to stairs renovation or stairs remodeling there are two common ways for remodeling the stairs, recapping and stairs refinishing.

Stair recapping

Stair recapping is a process used to transition from carpet to hardwood on a staircase. This can be a great way to update the look of your stairs and match them with your new flooring. stair recapping involves adding a layer of new material, often solid hardwood, over the existing stairs. This process typically covers the existing treads and risers with the new hardwood stair tread, giving the stairs a fresh look.

Customization: Stair recapping offers customization options, allowing you to select the type of wood, finish, and even decorative elements to personalize your staircase.
Cost: While it is generally more cost-effective than completely replacing a staircase, stair recapping can still represent a significant investment, especially if you opt for high-end materials.
Disruption: Stair recapping typically involves less disruption to your home compared to a full staircase replacement. It is often quicker and requires less demolition. And its much cleaner and faster compared to refinishing.

Stairs refinishing

stair refinishing involves restoring and improving the existing staircase by sanding down the existing finish, repairing any damage, and then applying new finishes, stains, or paints to the original wood. Refinishing can be an option when there are existing solid wood stair treads in good condition with few or no damages on them.
Custo
mization: While refinishing doesn't offer the same level of material or design customization as recapping, you can still choose from a variety of finishes and stains to achieve your desired look.
Cost: Stair refinishing is often more cost-effective than recapping, primarily because it doesn't require additional materials like new treads and risers.
Disruption: The refinishing process can be messy and time-consuming, as it involves sanding and applying finishes. However, it generally has a lower impact on your home compared to a complete staircase replacement
